This is the part 2 of the two part series "Sri Madhaviya Shankara Digvijaya" in Kannada. It is a revered Sanskrit poetic biography of Sri Adi Shankaracharya, traditionally attributed to Sri Vidyaranya, the 12th Jagadguru of the Sringeri Sharada Peetham. Comprising 16 cantos and 1,846 verses, this work offers a detailed account of Adi Shankaracharya's life, teachings, and spiritual conquests across India.
The text is esteemed not only for its historical and spiritual content but also for its literary excellence, often compared to the works of classical poets like Kalidasa. It narrates significant events, including Shankara's debates with scholars of various philosophical schools, his establishment of monastic centers (mathas), and his efforts in revitalizing Sanatana Dharma.
Sri Vidyaranya, renowned for his contributions to Vedanta through works like "Panchadashi" and "Jivanmukti Viveka," played a pivotal role in the resurgence of Advaita Vedanta during the 14th century. His association with the founding of the Vijayanagara Empire further underscores his influence in preserving and promoting dharmic traditions.
