Sri Jnanananda Bharati Swamiji was a profound scholar and devoted disciple of the Sringeri Sharada Peetham. Born R Krishnaswami Iyer, he cultivated an intimate relationship with the 34th Jagadguru of Sringeri Sri Sharada Peetham, Sri Chandrashekara Bharati Mahaswamiji. His exceptional knowledge of the Vedas, Shastras, and Vedanta, coupled with a deep-rooted reverence for the Sringeri Guru Parampara, laid the foundation for his spiritual journey.
On November 3, 1966, he embraced the renounced life of a sannyasi on the sacred banks of the Yamuna in Vrindavan, receiving the name Sri Jnanananda Bharati Swamiji from the 35th Jagadguru of Sringeri Sri Sharada Peetham, Sri Abhinava Vidhyatirtha Mahaswamiji.
